Planning a surprise birthday party?

Tip 1: Plan ahead

Not necessarily a logistic plan with the time and location when the catering, guest, or DJ arrives, but something concrete you or someone else can follow through. Countless times when hosting events and emergencies have made it necessary and beneficial to inform a close friend of my plan for the party to assist me better. When brainstorming for the birthday, think about these questions for the event's ambiance.

What is the party theme and decor?

What is the party venue?

How many guests should we host?

How do we want to send invitations?

What food should we have?

Once you have an outline, we can move to the next step.

Tip 2: Prepare

Venue: It’s time to contact the venue or if you prefer a personal setting, consider cleaning your  home for the party.

Theme and Decor: I recommend looking online for decorations and curating party favors.

Guest: When thinking of your guests, make a list of everyone you possibly like to invite, narrow down the list and finalize it.

Invitations: I recommend using Canva for invitations. Canva has various free templates and clip art to personalize your invitations. Also, I recommend having guest RVSP. It helps with the food menu.

Menu: Whether considering a light, medium or heavy menu, it’s important to ask your guest if they have any food allergies. Most importantly, you can never go wrong with ordering a vegetarian/gluten-free appetizer.

Consider starting a party playlist or hiring a DJ/ entertainer as you prepare for the surprise.

Tip 3: What is your reason for your guest of honor?

A great idea to get your guest of honor at the party is to tell them they will take family portraits. The majority of the time, they will dress up.

Tip 4: Preserve

In your invitation, remind your guest of the importance of preserving the surprise and RVSP..

Tip 5: Enjoy!

Have fun and enjoys one another’s company.
